“Feel the hurt, fall to your knees, but get back up and file your taxes.”
My adult reality was a manifestation. I was raised by my grandparents which meant I would never feel like number one. I knew my adult life would be much different than my childhood. At a young age I told myself I would be successful. I was going to be my number one.
Being a people person became my thing. Being able to talk and get to know anyone became my super skill.
I believe we live in a vibrational based reality. Whatever you want you can achieve.
First I would fill my subconscious with the reality I wanted to create. These were my daily affirmations, written, visualized and verbalized into reality.
As a young man I read, Think and Grow Rich. I knew my life was gonna be great, because I knew I was going to do the work.
It became clear to me, with a master’s skill set you can achieve anything. I thought a lot about my purpose; to help others, forgive and make the world better.
A story I often tell is, “Feel the hurt, fall to your knees, but get back up and file your taxes.” I learned this lesson fighting for my family - feel the punches but get back up. (And I knew how to get back up.)
Another valuable lesson, “Bring value to make others better, especially our children.” My wife, Denise, shows me daily that care is the secret ingredient in every connection.
I knew I wanted to be better than Jermell last week. This means I must be around achievers.
For growth I needed to build my mind. My mantra became - Never stay down. Grow towards a purpose. Surround yourself with positivity. Avoid drama and feed your mind positive thoughts.
I want everyone to think, “It’s gonna be a good time. Here comes Mell.”
Adapting to different spaces and finding common ground with people showed me it’s not just about arriving but about enjoying the journey. That “journey” would become my business. Heat Valet Parking Service Inc. would be a perfect career for my values of helping others.
My adult mantra became - Grab a door, provide hospitality and a warm welcome.
My values became my employees’ values, too. The vibe was contagious!
We don’t know who we will entertain next but if I can leave my employees and my kids with this mantra it would be…
Be kind. Add value.
